On June of 2009, the City of Grand Rapids met with representatives from Springfield, Missouri, to become part of a group of cities sharing similar characteristics (i.e. population, median family income, median age, cost of living index, number of households in City, etc.) with the purpose of sharing best practices, comparing operations, and service delivery methods.
