On Tuesday June 22, 2010, the Grand Rapids City Commission adopted the following resolution outlining the City Commission’s priorities for transforming City government.
WHEREAS, City government is currently undergoing a transformational process, necessitated by current financial conditions of the municipal organization and the local, state and national economy; and
WHEREAS, this transformational process will include a thorough and critical examination of every City service in order to determine whether services could be better provided exclusively by another agency or jointly through a partnership or consolidation of jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, City services will be reviewed to seek maximum cost efficiency, improved customer service, and effective service results; and
WHEREAS, the City will work with the Transformation Advisors to implement the City’s Five-Year Transformation Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to provide additional guidance to the City Manager to accelerate this process by focusing on the following initial priorities.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Commission hereby establishes the following initial priorities for transformation of City government:
